Skeletor Laugh

Just got word that the "Sexy Skeletor" poster for our upcoming show on Oct 21st at Timewarp Records has kicked off a brigade of outraged folks that have been actively tearing down the posters because they found the imagery offensive.

We were having fun, turning a picture of our friend holding a broken road cone into Skeletor holding his staff Havoc. While we thought we were just paying homage to the retro kids cartoon series Masters of The Universe and the "Sexy Skeletor" meme, it turns out that color matching the road cone to Havoc's pink cartoon handle might not have been the best idea after all...

As the female artist who created the poster, I found this rather silly. My inner Kathleen Hanna wanted to make a strong rebuttal but my inner P.T. Barnum knew the show, must, go, on! So, I made a series of Masters of the Universe themed flyers for our upcoming show on Oct 21st at Timewarp Records in an attempt to A/B test the PC police outage levels (by seeing which posters got ripped down the most). FYI - we've noticed that blasphemous imagery and depictions of scantly clad fantasy females tend to remain untampered with. So much for rocking with your c's out...

In the meantime, remember kids, until the powers that be, corrupt our freedoms any further, it's our 1st amendment right to freedom of speech & artistic expression. To quote Skeletor's nemesis, "I Have The Power" (to make more posters) 😎 ⚔️ Rx, Viv

P.S. Why Wait for Halloween?
